Mission & Vision
Our mission is to help families experiencing homelessness and low-income families achieve sustainable independence
through a community-based response.
A nation in which every family
has a home, a livelihood,
and the chance to build a better future.
Family Promise of Hudson County is part of a national interfaith alliance transforming the lives of families
threatened by homelessness. Traditionally this has included a volunteer-intensive model where families were physically housed in places of worship. As we approach a post pandemic era we have been learning new ways to expand our outreach while minimizing physical contact. The result has been a successful move to new models that include proactive homeless prevention, temporary housing in more stable contexts often in facilities connected to faith communities, and ongoing support of families who have overcome homelessness
but may still be vulnerable in today’s challenging context.
Now more than ever we need support of people and agencies of good will
– especially the foundational support of the interfaith community –
as we continue to address the threat of homelessness in ways that embody dignity and hope.
